A car, also referred to as an automobile, motor car or autocar, is typically a four-wheeled motor vehicle that carries and is powered by its own motor or engine, and primarily used to transport passengers more than goods. An automobile is designed to run mainly on roads, and can seat anywhere from 1 to 8 people. Before the birth of the modern car in 1886, animal-drawn carriages were widely used for the same purpose. The use of motorized cars only became prevalent after they became affordable for a lot of people with the introduction of the Ford Model T in 1908.
